My mother was an active member of the League of Women Voters in Pelham, New York for many years.  She was following in the footsteps of my grandmother, her mother Mamie Root - a charter member of the League of Women Voters established in 1919, the same year Congress passed the 19th amendment to the Constitution giving women the right to vote.

After my brother's graduation from the University of Rochester, I happened to be home in Pelham when the New York LWV held a 50th anniversary parade.  With my news-photo-style Rolleicord camera, I walked along and tried to document the event.
