X-Bar-A Guest Ranch
The X-Bar-A was a working ranch that took in guests. There was a herd of cattle, regular ranch hands,
"wranglers" and staff for keeping us entertained and fed. At the beginning of our stay, each riding
guest was assigned a horse for the duration. Larger people naturally were assigned to larger horses;
my 'Sioux' was a big Palomino.
Every day we had a chance to ride out with the wranglers to round up the cattle, whether or not other activities were planned. Scenic rides and other journeys kept my brother and I in the saddle for up to six hours a day.
