Petroleum chemist, specialist in toxicology, precautionary labelling, trademarks and brands, 1929-1971; Esso Oil Co., Esso Chemical Co., Standard Oil (N.J.). Industrial liaison to WW-II ordnance projects, including the Manhattan Project; the "Esso Answer Man". Award citation in 1961 from the American Petroleum Institute, for leadership in establishing uniform precautionary labelling for all petroleum products. Holder of several U.S. patents on production and application of petroleum products. Author of article on paraffin waxes for the Anniversary Edition of Encyclopedia Brittanica; authored articles for John Wiley & Sons Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology, 1968 edition, on the history and manufacturing of candles and all phases of petroleum wax production and use.
